I have a 2 battery, one outboard situation. With the Perko switch in the OFF position, I still have power to the nav light, bilge and bait well pumps. Nothing else has power. Is this the perfered way to wire a boat? The boat is fiberglass and lives on a trailer. Thanks.

Re: Perko Battery Switch Question

What devices you have active is personal preference. It doesn't hurt anything the way you have it wired, but it defeats the purpose of being able to set the battery switch to OFF and be assured the entire electrical system is turned off.

Re: Perko Battery Switch Question

If you have a stereo radio, I would also keep power to the memory (clock, station presets) when the battery switch is OFF. That and the bilge pumps especially, they should always have power.
