Do I need to remove the purple wire on the positive side? I see some videos on they do some videos they dont.

Ayuh,..... I believe it wants 12v to work properly, so test to see whether it's 12v or not,.....

Update, I ran a wire from my ignition to the red igniter wire. I kept the purple and purple yellow on the + coil. All is working well now. I will post more when I take a all-day trip.
