Re: pertronix

why you need to know?
:) :)
petronix is trouble free and never fails so there are no test specs.
why test something that works great and never breaks ?

Re: pertronix

I'd email them and ask. "Converted" means "unique" in my books. Get the specialists there to make sure you get the right one.

I'd take the pertronix II since it's only a little more and won't fry itself if you forget to turn off the ignition. I love mine! Works great!

http://www.pertronix.com/ptx2005_cat/ptx05_marine.pdf

Re: pertronix

Here's a portion of one of my old posts

"move up to the Pertronix II, improved advance and circuitry that prevents frying the ignition system if the key is left in the "on" position while the engine is not running, that alone is worth the extra cost. Here's a link for the best price on Pertronix equipment, although these guys don't have the best catalog and parts look-up.

http://www.carshopinc.com/

These guys are great to do business with, call them or look up the right part numbers on the Pertronix web site, then plug into CarShop and voila, about $90 for Petronix II. I installed last spring...my only regret is not doing it five years ago.

Re: pertronix

Has anyone had a problem with theirs once it has been installed? I thought about converting mine but I have an OMC and have to make the circuit so the shift interupter works correctly. Someone said they run real hot after doing this.

Re: pertronix

I have not had a problem with mine ever, and I have both the ignitor 1 with flamethrower coil and ignitor 2 with flamethrower 2 coil.
I have about 300 hours on the original ignitor and have left the key on many times with no problems. The ignition will fry itself gets a little exaggerated I think.
If I get a chance, I'll measure mine and give you specs. I'm pretty sure the flamethrower 2 coil is 0.6 ohms, don't remember the original coil nor the ignitor module resistances.

if someone said they run real hot after doing the omc diode circuit fix, I'd like to know how they knew it was running hot and how they define hot.
Unless they wire something wrong, a diode is going to drop voltage and if anything prevent the whole thing from running hot.
