Re: PETA INSULTS

What's new you ask?

Now, jurors will decide whether Hinkle and Cook were, as PETA argues, providing humane deaths to animals that would otherwise have been painfully killed in gas chambers -- or whether, as several local officials say, they were taking animals on the promise of finding them homes and secretly killing them.

A PETA spokeswoman, Kathy Guillermo, said PETA never wanted to get into the business of euthanizing animals. But she said the group couldn't ignore the horrible conditions in animal shelters around Norfolk and in northeastern North Carolina. The group now euthanizes thousands of animals a year.

That's the "new" American way.

Take a look at any commercial on TV. The American adult (father) male is an "idiot" in every one.

In today's sitcoms, ever notice how these ugly guys have hot wives? Everybody loves Raymond? The King of Queens? Give me a break!

[more on topic...I always treat animals ethically. For example, I get my fish off the hook and into the livewell or back in the lake quickly as possible. Keep my bait in an aerated filtered bait tank, and keep an eye on the water temp - I am very concerned with their well-being while they are in my custody.]

Did they get a fair trial before you incarcerated them?

course not - have to apprehend 'em first - anything can't swim through 3/4 mesh gets held for questioning. And tried later. Ethically of course.

Speaking of nail guns, Harborfreight seems to have some decent ones at good prices. Maybe not commercial quality but certainly serviceable.

Re: PETA INSULTS

"As I have stated before: it is a wonder that Conservatives even exist. Kids are forced to go to school by law and the Liberals want to irrationally maintain the monopoly the broken public school system now has. This is more about turning out good little Democrats and Liberals, and maintaining some of the most powerful and influentual Labor Unions that reelect Democrats then it is about results and our precious children learning real critical thinking skills. Kids learn how Sally has two Moms, or li'l Johnny has two Dads (and that is totally natural and acceptable to everyone except those "mean spirited Conservatives") rather then learning 2 + 2 = 4, or American history so they can think for themselves. The Fems, (good Libs in the trenches as well) have put there thumbprint on things by teaching our kids that Dads are basically worthless wallets and or sperm banks. The Universities are radical Liberal and intollerent of any competing ideologies, and the so called "mainstream media" is full of Liberal elites who are intolerant of any other bias then theirs, and routinely edit out any real news or facts that conflict with their views. Thank God, (I know that offends Libs too), that Conservatives still exist. Respectfully JR"

While this does have some nuggets of validity to it, you cannot give this example while ignoring the fact that the conservatives are doing the same thing, just with different means. There is a significant amount of folks on the right that are as extreme, using church and forms of media to forward their agenda as well. There is a savage, massive amount of hate that is voiced against the left. This would be fine if it wasn't voiced by "good Christians". I often wonder, just what does God think of hypocritical people who spew hate and stand on pedestals of superiority when the reality is they are no better, and are not doing anything any different than those they hate?

I'm not taking sides here, I never do. I just like to point out to people that they should take a long, hard look at what they are saying before they say it. Also, don't for a minute think I agree with organizations like PETA or Right To Life groups. These groups are extreme, and care little for the subject of their cause. They only care about forwarding their agendas. My personal favorite is when people say these activities are Gods will. Who are these people to say what Gods will is? Going to church does not qualify a person to speak for God, or act for God. It is that pious arrogance and the disgraceful acts of some in the name of God that drove me away from organized religion. Don't mistake that for a lack of belief in God, I just don't believe in the distortion, selfishness and greed known as man made religion.

And yes, TV does cast men as bumbling goofs at times, but if a person watches these shows, the women usually end up looking like goofs and eating crow for berating their men. I'm not saying these shows are indicative of reality, but really, in the real world of marriage, does anyone think anyone is living like the Cleavers any more? Is anyone here saying women are supposed to be relegated back to being pieces of property that cooks and cleans and keeps their mouth shut? Go ask your wives that and see how well that works for ya...

Re: PETA INSULTS

PETA did a thing here in downtown Jackson several years ago. They had a guy standing on a corner in a fish suit holding a sign that read "Fish have Feelings Too". He stood out there most of the day until another guy walked up dressed up in a lima bean costume with a similar sign "Beans Have Feelings Too".....they hurled insults at one another for about 30 minutes then took to beating snot out of one another while we all watched from our offices. I wish someone would have caught it on tape because it was histerical.....btw the fish was arrested for assault and battery. He clubbed the lima bean with his sign.

Re: PETA INSULTS

JasonJ States, (about OMR's rant):

While this does have some nuggets of validity to it, you cannot give this example while ignoring the fact that the conservatives are doing the same thing, just with different means.

No JasonJ: My point is valid: Period. Conservatives are fighting for oxygen: no doubt, but they are not doing the "same thing", so I can ignore what I like to ignore while making a valid point.

There is a significant amount of folks on the right that are as extreme, using church and forms of media to forward their agenda as well.

JasonJ: There is a significant difference between a church that one voluntarily attends and the pubilc schools where the kids must attend by the force of law, (unless one has resources to home school, or send to private school). The Libs and Dems fight tooth and nail to preserve this poisonous monopoly, that performs VERY POORLY by any rational measure. There is also a huge difference between the combined power of ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, NYT, WP, CT, LAT et al, and all of a fairly new thing: Talk radio. I know the Libs are worried about the trends, (as a former stock broker I'd rather be short MSM then long as well). There are lots of Conservatives that may be mean, but nothing like the blatent facism of the left: just look at Universities: JasonJ!

There is a savage, massive amount of hate that is voiced against the left.

Dr. Savage, (Weiner is a Jewish name Jason), does spew hate, but he is hardly Christian, and he spews it at the right as much as the left. I don't consider him anything but a "shock jock", very much in the minority.

This would be fine if it wasn't voiced by "good Christians". I often wonder, just what does God think of hypocritical people who spew hate and stand on pedestals of superiority when the reality is they are no better, and are not doing anything any different than those they hate?

Where do ya get the smoke Jason? Have no idea what you are talking about here.

I'm not taking sides here, I never do. I just like to point out to people that they should take a long, hard look at what they are saying before they say it.

Jason: If you can't see where you are taking sides I can't help you. I can see you try to ride the fence, but you took a side on this post my man.

Also, don't for a minute think I agree with organizations like PETA or Right To Life groups. These groups are extreme, and care little for the subject of their cause. They only care about forwarding their agendas.

Big difference between killing animals and babies Jason. Some, (very small minority), right to life groups are extreme. PETA is more then extreme: it is insane. Jason: MORAL equivalence does not wash here!

I agree with ya here, don't like organized religion much myself: but I'm a Christian, (sorry Bro Haut). The religion that does the most of what you speak is the religon o' peace not Christianity Jason. Libs HATE all religion especially Christianity Jason. Again I reject the moral equivilence part of your rant.

And yes, TV does cast men as bumbling goofs at times, but if a person watches these shows, the women usually end up looking like goofs and eating crow for berating their men.

It is more then TV Jason. The Fems drill the man hating stuff in public schools and Universities too.

I'm not saying these shows are indicative of reality, but really, in the real world of marriage, does anyone think anyone is living like the Cleavers any more?

Not exactly like the Cleavers, but men are important Jason.

Is anyone here saying women are supposed to be relegated back to being pieces of property that cooks and cleans and keeps their mouth shut? Go ask your wives that and see how well that works for ya...

Jason: who said that li'l "nugget"? Not me.

[/quote]

Jason. I understand some of your points, but you are just as wrong in this rant as you were about your taxes. If you made any taxable income since George Bushs' tax cuts you got a break. A li'l coffee smellin' and drinkin' is in order my friend. I respect your polite maner, and I thank you for your service to the country we both love. That said: you are wrong here. Respectfully JR

Re: PETA INSULTS

Oldmercs, I hate to break it to you my northwest tower of power friend, but you saying I am wrong only indicates a lack of agreement between your views and mine. I have never stated my views are right. My views are my views, and sometimes those views are in agreement with others, and sometimes they are not. Never, for even a fraction of a second, have I ever believed that what I say here is the end all be all that everyone else should espouse to. I recommend you realize that your viewpoint, while different than mine, bears no more weight, and no more validity than mine. It's called humility. Your christianity is supposed to teach you that, I do believe.

Hey Jason, Please don't take things so personal here on DC. That said: black is black and white is white regardless of your "views"; or my "views". The "everything is relative" world exists in some quarters but not in this particular discussion, (in my opinion: if that makes you feel better). You have made statements that are wrong Jason, (the claim about taxes is very black and white), and I called you on it, and you were wrong, please understand that FACT, (it should help you). Many of the rest of the things we subsequently discussed were demonstrably incorrect as well, (in my not so humble opinion), and I rebutted your statements point by point. If it helps you, I can always say: in my opinion, when responding to your posts. If I say something incorrect: (which I do from time to time), feel free to bluntly correct me, and state the correct fact or view. If I think you have a point, or better yet: that I was incorrect, I will admit the error, and thank you for the knowlege you have been so kind to share with me. I remember a little education you gave me about 1250s, where I had the wrong impression about RPMs and you corrected me and I appreciate that: Jason. The heavy hitters like Ladies, (Bob) confirmed what you said. When you lecture me that I can't make a statement that I feel is true without stating that Conservatives are "just as guilty": I think you are full of it and I let you know that: in no uncertian terms. That Jason, is my 'style': blunt and in your face. I can and will try to tone down that part of my discourse when I reply to your future statements here on DC, (as I do admire your polite style). I also disagree that all statements are no more or less valid, then any other statement. Some things are 'prima facia' Jason; and I reject this: " all things are relative" argument you seem to put forth here: PERIOD. Finally: I live near a very Liberal town, (as you know), and my Christian friends love to lecture me about my Christianity, as you have just done as well. Since we are friends, I will tell you what I tell my other Christian friends: "JUDGE NOT LES YE BE JUDGED". Muslims routinely kill their fellow Muslims, (for not being Muslim enough), and that has been happening for 1500 years (give or take). Christians routinely look down their noses at fellow Christians and preach to them. I admit I am a "cafeteria Christian sinner" Jason, and likely not nearly as worthy as you. That said: I am what I am, so lets leave that out of our discussions. I hope this comes across as reasonable, I know that I come across as a "know it all" with a large ego, and there may be some truth to that observation. I do not think I am better then you or anyone else on this forum. Hope I made myself clear. Respectfully, (and I do mean it) JR

Re: PETA INSULTS

Well, I don't want to argue the tax thing. Part of my problem with that was I have had increases in income throughout the last several years, so that has obvious effects in taxes, so I can willingly concede on the tax thing. Just isn't worth arguing over.

Other than that, what exactly have I been wrong about, by your definition of wrong? Because, other than tangible things such as taxes, most of what I post is pure belief system and viewpoint in DC. Are you actually coming on this forum and telling people that their viewpoints are wrong, simply based on the fact that those viewpoint conflict with yours? That is very troubling, because someone forgot to tell you that opinions are like bellybuttons, they all have lint in them.

I hope this isn't about the max rpm thing on the 1250 and that someone had fed you a line and caused you to run your 1250 in a less than optimum manner and I pointed it out. That would be kinda petty.

You have to understand that I sleep very well at night knowing that I could not care less if someone is "in your face" with me. The simple fact is, wether you intend it or not, you express your points in an arrogant, stand-off ish way, and it reduces the credibility of your message. I try to read past that arrogance to get to the actual message, but your lastest response has done nothing but reinforce that arrogant stance. It's too bad because you have great taste in outboards, but you consistantly demonstrate a lack of ability to empathize with your fellow man.

I assume I don't have to define empathy for you since you clearly feel your intellect is vast and limitless. As a side note, you may want to reconsider this dynamic you have created in which you have focused your attention on rebuffing everything I say. It makes you look petty and small. I have been here a long, long time, and others have tried what you are trying with no success. You would be better served focusing your energies in another direction, and I will do the same...
