LadyFish I think Arnett may have mean't to say Agent Orange. Not only did it destroy all plant life in Nam but is still effecting us vets some 30 years past. His little speech just makes me want to fly my flag a little higher........he will get his due down the road.....

I also hear that Heraldo Rivera (aka: Herendo Revolver) was fired. Seems he gave his Military hosts exact location and intentions, over the air.

What an idiot!!

Allright Gigi, if you are ready to take up the peace without reasoning banner, we're all ready to debate. BTW, all of us here want peace, just differ on opinions of how it is possible to achieve it. Arnette is a reporter, expressing opinions on Iraqi TV that the Iraqi resolve is thwarting the US effort. Regardless of whether or not it is treason(my opinion) or an American's dutifull exercise of free speech, It helps our enemies and hurts us on a media that is 100% pure propaganda which he legitimized.

BREAKING NEWS....(OBVIOUSLY A JOKE, BUT A GOOD ONE)

GERALDO GIVES PRECISE LOCATION OF PETER ARNETT

Attempt at Redemption for Fox News Vet

Just hours after Fox News correspondent Geraldo Rivera was asked to leave the 101st Airborne for revealing tactical information about the unit, Mr. Rivera attempted to redeem himself by giving the precise location of fired NBC war correspondent Peter Arnett.

“To the 101st, let me say this: my bad,” Mr. Rivera said in a televised segment on Fox News, before unveiling satellite photos showing Peter Arnett’s most recent movements.

Mr. Arnett, who was fired by NBC for giving an interview to Iraqi TV in which he said that the U.S. war plan for Iraq had failed, was shown to be moving in a remote region near the oil-rich town of Kirkuk.

“To all my buds in the 101st – wherever you are – go get him, dudes,” Mr. Rivera said, pumping his fist in the air.

But Mr. Arnett seemed to have a surprise of his own up his sleeve, appearing on television a few minutes later in his new role as a war correspondent for The Food Network, the only cable network yet to fire him in his decades-long career.

Mr. Arnett appeared with satellite photos of Mr. Rivera, saying, “I’m sure many of you in the 101st Airborne would very much like to know where he is at the moment.”

On CNN, Retired General Wesley Clark said that it would be helpful to the military to know the precise locations of both discredited newsmen, but cautioned, “I hope our determination to take out Geraldo doesn’t distract us from the equally important task of taking out Peter Arnett.”
:D

Update from National Geographic.

National Geographic severed its relationship with reporter Peter Arnett today, citing his expression of "personal views" on state-controlled Iraqi television about what he said were failures of the U.S. war strategy.
Arnett, who has been reporting on the war from Baghdad, has apologized to the television companies and the U.S. people for his "misjudgment."

The statement released by the National Geographic Society said the following:

"National Geographic has terminated the service of Peter Arnett. The Society did not authorize or have any prior knowledge of Arnett's television interview with Iraqi Television, and had we been consulted, would not have allowed it.

"His decision to grant an interview and express his personal views on state-controlled Iraqi Television, especially during a time of war, was a serious error in judgment and wrong."

NBC News President Neal Shapiro said in a statement published on MSNBC.com: "It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview to state-controlled Iraqi TVespecially at a time of war and it was wrong for him to discuss his personal observations and opinions in that interview. Therefore, Peter Arnett will no longer be reporting for NBC News and MSNBC."

Arnett apologized for the interview in an interview on NBC's Today show this morning.

"I want to apologize to NBC, MSNBC, National Geographic EXPLORER and the American people for clearly making a misjudgment by giving the interview to Iraqi Television," Arnett said. "Clearly by giving that interview I created a firestorm in the United States, and for that I'm truly sorry."

WAAAA!!!!!!WAAAA!!!!!

Hey Djohns,I saw that on Fox live yesterday too.Geraldo drew a map in the sand showing the 101st position and where they planned to go next.I looked at my wife and asked,"what the hell did he do that for."I hope it was just a bonehead mistake and he didn't do that on purpose.I always thought Geraldo was 'gung ho 'about this campaign.

To hell with Peter Arnett.

Re: Peter Arnett, Traitor, or what?

he can say whatever he wants, i'll still hate him.

my opinion- he became famous for broadcasting from iraq during the first war. he was a journalist's hero, dodging the bombs while continuing to report.

now we have a ton of reporters doing the same. many are riding along with the troops, doing (almost) everything they are. he figured he needed to do something more to make a name for himself this go-around. he's got a big ego to fill. probably isn't even thinking about what he's doing. just needs to be on the top of the media grouping.

Like I said b4:

Boot ALL reporters. NOW!
Get 'em out. PERIOD.

They're doing more harm than good it would seem.
It just pisses me off to see ANY anti-America or Anti-troop being reported.

If you're gonna report, then make sure WE are winning. Show some dead iraqi generals or something!

Don't show bombed women and children. Yes, that kind of thing happens. It's war.
Those Air Force boys have enough to think about than images of bombed civi's.

H.

Gigi: Here's the difference in a nutshell: On Iraqi TV, he would not have been allowed to have a negative opinion about the government; on U.S. TV, he would have. That's the difference between them and us.

Re: Peter Arnett, Traitor, or what?

Hey,DJohns19, wash your mouth out with soap! Peter Arnett is a New Zealand citizen. He is NOT Australian. It is like saying that a Canadian is an American simply because he comes from North America and has a particular accent. Australia has a fairly large contingent of troops in Iraq in relation to the size of our country and a large majority of our population support the war.
Please check your facts before posting on a serious topic such as this. I served 20 years in the Australian Army with two tours in Vietnam in Infantry Battalions so you could say that politically I am slightly to the right of Attila the Hun. I figure that this gives me the right of reply.

Thats what I think. You can take it or leave it
Regards,
Peter.
