petrol running from top of carb

thought i would change the impellor on my 80,s yam 15hp when finished i pressurised fuel system with bulb and noticed petrol pouring out of the top of the carb also ran badly ,did have the engine a bit more than vertical when doing the impeller,what do i need to do to rectify this problem as it ran fine this morning....anticipated thanks....antali

if the motor was in the tilt range u are fine
if the motor was still in the trim mode u could have a bad float setting or bad float

but if it ran fine, i would pull the plugs and look at them

This is normally a sticking needle problem. Best to tear down the carb, clean throughly and reassemble with new carb kit including needle and seat.

thanks justintime and ray will strip carb today and check float and needle

stripped the carb today and found the needle stuck so replaced it,and it goes well now, thankyou for your help.
