Re: 115 or 140 jhonson help

Re: 115 or 140 jhonson help

Maybe a little more "umph" on low end and a couple more mph depending on hull

The 115 should pull strong out of the hole compared to a 140 till you get into the upper rpm ranges-when the 140 will pull away from it. The differences between these engines are not minor. The blocks have different port machining, different exhaust, carbs, and heads. The 140 probably swings the next higher pitch prop.

Re: 115 or 140 jhonson help

A lot depends on set up. If the 115 is set up poorly and you convert it or install a 140 of the same year and set it up to the max you may see some difference. The difference will come more from set up rather than raw "horsepower". Comparing a maxed out set up of both motors on that hull you probably won't see enough difference to make the investment (time & $$) worth while.

But going to a 120/140 V4 looper is a whole different ball game.....

Re: phantom prowler 150hp johnson

Not sure just what happened to this post-it was originally comparing a crossflow 115 to a 140. Now, I see the heading is 150. Guess I'm wondering how the 150 got onto this thread...That 150 V6 has much more power/torque than a 140.
