All -- Thanks for all the previous help over the years. I just moved to Phoenix and am looking for a reputable mechanic for a "winter" overhaul.

I've got a 1994 Chapparal 205 SL LTD on a trailer with a mercruiser 5.7L Alpha I gen II. I'm looking to get the bellows and U-joints replaced at a minimum, and may get the propshaft straightened or replaced.

I live in the NW valley (Surprise), so anyone on the west side of town would be good.

Thanks!

Call Bodnar Boat Works out at Lake Pleasant and talk to Dana. I've talked to him a few times and he seems very knowledgeable and easy to talk to.

Re: Phoenix Area Mechanics

When I have needed a boat mechanic, I have checked at West Marine to see who's in town or has moved on. They have steered me to two really good "mobile" mechs. I did a simple credit check on them also by calling the local wholesaler and asking if these guys paid their bills. They had good reputations on all counts and their work was to specs. The big problem is getting on their schedule. If a mech is good, he's also busy and will not tolerate flaky people.

Re: Phoenix Area Mechanics

welcome to Phoenix

Ive used BODNAR BOAT WORKS since my boat is stored in a lot right behind there shop. They did a good job, fast return and seemed very knowledgeable!

They have a LOT of BIG boats ( cruser types ) they work on so you know those owners must trust them. I have a cruser they did some minor work on. They do charge 105.00 an hour. Again they did a great job and were very honest about what I neded to do and didnt try to sell me anything I didnt need.

I do have a guy I was refered to and talked to about doing a break job on my Trailer since he thinks BODNAR is asking a little too much for my break job. His name is SCOTT and owns his own shop in Central PHX at 51 ave and Betheny Home.

Ive never been there myself but I think i will have him do my break job on my tri axel trailer. He has come highly recomended and seems very knowledgeable!

His # is 623-842-5089 You can give him a shot. I have done the work your looking for my self on my last boat. Its not too hard but it takes some time to do it.

I think Scott charges about 80 bucks an hour.

You may also want to use Marina Del Sol on Mc Dowell Road. They are pretty good but it seems things take longer then they say. They are a BAYLINER dealer.
good Luck
