Re: pic of work so far

Probably a swivel attached to a homemade fixed seat base, though there are some bases you can get that are pretty short, you just have to look for them. I really don't want to use the cheapo walmart steel tubes.

OHH yea I agree Redfury, I dont want any walmart cheapo !!!! I was looking just now at the bases here on i boats and found this , I could use 3 of them

$26.69 - Seasense Adjustable Seat Pedestal - Adjustable Seat Pedestal
Compare at $31.99
Part # 50012645

and then for the captain the captain chair was thinking about some thing like this

$84.99 - Springfield "columbia 8 - Adjustable Pedestal - 13-1/2"-20" - Brushed Aluminum - 8"Base
Compare at $99.99
Part # 1460201

I will get out there tomarrow and do some mesurements to see if it will work ??? it still might be a little tall !!

has anyone ever used any of these bases?? and if so how do you like them ??? Thanks John

i bought the adjustables from here.. i like them already.. what i found nice was that because their adjustable they can come out withuot removing the base. so just pull the metal piece. take the seat out.. than remove the carpet.. 5 min job.. its nice for if i feel like being above the windshield or below.

Re: pic of work so far

The first product you listed only lowers the seat 2 inches lower than the nicer ones with the removable pedestals...11 inches vs. 13. I wonder how much of a real world difference 2 inches would make....

with my b2b loungers........i found that with a 5 inch platform under them.......i could feel really comfortable sitting in them.......(im 5'11)
the b2b's were considered a large....or tall set

but some times.....i just wanted to feel the wind on my face or just look above the windsheild....so i sat on the top of the seat......it was the right height......that was at least an 11 inch lift.....so a four inch bolster or 3 inch adjustable pedistal wont do what i want it to do.......it needs to come wayyyyyy up

Re: pic of work so far

Ok guys I just went out and measured , right now to the top of the base is 9 inchs , the top of the seat is 13 inchs and to the top of the side of the boat is 22 inchs ,

So what i am worried about is bikini top, i want to put on her, they do make them rise up from the top of the winshield dont they ??

And i didnt measure to the top of the winshield but i know there is enought room for a couple inch lift there ,what do you guys think is 7 inch enough room to brace your self on the sides to not go flying out the boat ??

I guess I just answered my frist question , If i not worried on seeing out the top of the winshield theres room for the bikini top !! DDDAAAA lol and they do make the raised bikini tops

What i was thinking on the one good base was only seat that really need to raise and lower is the captain chair , [trying to save a few bucks ] I just bont know how well the cheapier ones will hold up ??? John

Man I'm jealous, my last fishing trip it was cold, rained and not even so much as a bite :(...

What lake did you go out on? I spend a fair amount of time in mid MI in the summer, my in-laws have a place on Lake Ogemaw (just east of west branch).

OHh and on the seats I really think I am going to stay with the fold down seats i got in her now , I was driving her today and if i really sit high in the seat I am almost eye level now with the top of the window !! so if i get a bikini top that snaps to the top of the window I will be trying to look through canvas , so I can go up at height at all !! Well, it depends on what kind of bimini top you want John. If you want the full windshield kind, you can get it, they snap onto the leading edge of your windshield frame and go up as high as you specify. Otherwise, you can get a generic bimini top that will hover over the cockpit and uses straps fore and aft to keep it stable...you can keep it up while driving and can get it as large as you like and as high as you like. You can get it so it covers you enough when you are sitting on the back of the seat, or you can get it high enough you can stand in the boat and not have to duck....they are totally customizeable.

Matter of fact, I have a PDF on how to BUILD one, and bought a bunch of bimini poles and unions from ErikGreen a while back. I've yet to get around to building anything with it yet though. But I plan to!

YEp that would be cool , if i could get it 5 or 6 inchs up but then if i lift the seats i wont be able to see , i will have to bend or to see while driving!! right now when i am sitting up straight in the seat I am just below the top of the winshield, so there is no helping that unless i get a hole new winshield !!

Red where did you get the PDF from ?? could you send me a link ?? thanks John

Re: pic of work so far

Ok guys man i just cant make up my mind on the seats , I was talking to a guy at work , he has a 16 foot glastron GT and he was telling me that his bases are only like 2 inchs tall !!
he was also telling me that he got so old bar stools that he was thinking of using !!

I really do like the idea of them but i wouldnt get any lift out of them !! and i would loose my storage under the seats !! all i really have in them is a couple of vest !!

i really do like to sit high and look over the glass when i can !!!!!! nothing like the feel of the wind in your face as your flying on the water !!

Well i guess i got some more looking to do !! john

Re: pic of work so far

I like the front marker lights on that thing.

Myself, I have no reasons for wanting a tri hull, or a glastron for that matter.

I just simply saw this boat and knew I wanted it.

The closest thing to a trihull that I have a memory of was learning to ski behind one when I was a wee lad. :D
