I have a 1997 Larson 23 foot deck boat.It has a Merc Cruiser 5.7.Top speed with the current prop is 38.5 mph, measured by gps.The prop on the boat is a 14 X 23 BLACK DIAMOND aluminum. The boat will carry about 4 adults and 4 teenagers. We will be pulling a tube with 3 people on it, knee boarding, and wake boarding. My top speed was with 4 adults. It is slow out of the hole so I would like to approve that but hate to lose my top speed because of it being so low.At its top speed Rpm was about 4600 RPM.What do you guys recommend?I don't mind spending some coin for some noticeable improvements.

A 22" SS 4 blade may be what you're looking for. It will help with hole shots, yet still provide decent top end.

i think rndn is right on this one and thats probably why people arent responding much..i 2nd the 22" ss 4 blade..38 isnt that bad a top speed its a deck boat its not a bass boat..with watersports a good holeshot(pulling power) means more than anything else..

You're going to have to compromise on this I think - either a good hole shot for water sports or keep around 40 mph top end. However, switching to SS will likely help your boat a lot. From a 23" aluminum to a 4-blade SS, I think you're between 22" (better top end) and 20" (better hole shot).

I love my 20" Stiletto Bay Pro II and that prop may also be a very good one for you,,,,not sure 20" or 22". Some 4 blades come in odd pitch #'s so maybe a 21" 4-blade SS.

Thanks Guys! So the lower the pitch the better the holeshot, but a loss of top speed?Going to stainless will be more efficent so that top speed wont be effected that much?Last but not least is there going to be a noticable difference or just a mild change?
