Im guessing a 3.0 wouldn't exactly bolt in now would it?

Ayuh,..... It should bolt right up, 'n the 3.0l is much more common,......

Btw,.... a GM 2.5l outa a car is a completely different motor,.....

Thanks yeah if I happen to find a marine 3.0 in my area maybe ill go that route since its coming out anyways. Def a marine motor regardless of what goes in.

You would have a hard time finding a 3.0 that is not a marine. I believe they may have been used in industrial equipment but I have never seen one other than marine. You should be able to find them all over the place in rotten bayliners.

3.0's are a dime a dozen... they come in rotten boats that people want to give away for free

So will a 2.5 starter, fuel pump, and carb work on the 3.0? I assume the carb would need to be re adjusted.

And as far as my outdrive goes...do I need to find a 3.0 out of the same exact year as my boat to match up with my Alpha 1 Gen 1?

Starter, fuel pump, alternator and the like are all exactly the same. Distributor and carb will be slightly different. Drive ratio is exactly the same, 1.98:1... No change required there, but you may need to go to a bigger propeller (almost certainly! :D).

Any year 1982 to 1991 should fit. Bondo Rear seal?
