Well, I just bought a boat. 74 Glastron sportster with a 85 merc.

Previous owner painted over someone elses latex paint job with automotive paint. I obviously need to start over, would just sanding down to the original paint be fine, or am I getting into something thats going to take a lot longer and cost a lot more than I think.

I also would like to know of decent place to find parts, other than here at Iboats. Im used to the automotive scene where you have summit racing and things like that.

Im looking to redo the dash, and install guages. Id like a tach, volt, speedo and a water temp. Where can I find some affordable guages? Im not looking for anything special.

Welcome and congrats on the new boat!
Post up some pictures and lets see what you got.

If its sprayed with auto paint over latex...what a mess.
Sounds like you have lots of sanding to do.

Inexpensive gauges (generally manufacturers overstock) and other boat stuff is available at Greatlakesskipper.com.

get the boat safe to use before you start adding lipstick and eyeshadow. boats run just fine with out all the glitz.
