We are picking the new boat up on Saturday.

Besides the obvious with making sure I got what I paid for as far as options, anything I should look for with the in-water test, general inspection?

Anything I should remember to bring for the trailer ride home? It comes with transom straps, although I will bring some flat nylon ratchet straps anyway...

THanks!

Thanks for the response...

They are going to flush, clean, then winterize it there. We are doing the in-water test first thing, then while they do all of that service, we will sign all of the paperwork and go eat lunch.

I know! It was freezing last night! Forgot to bring some plants in, and I think they are mad at me now.

Don't travel without a spare tire for the trailer and make sure the trailer tires are aired up. Check them yourself. The sales guy has no idea whether or not it was done. Trust nobody but yourself in such matters.

ALRIGHT!...Were all exited for you Bill. Don't forget to send us your pics!

I always carry an extra drain plug, and extra set of boat keys in a tool box that I keep on the boat and an emergency composite prop (cheaper and lighter) for those "just in case" moments.

Happy boating!

I always carry a short piece of 2inX12in lumber with me for a pad under the jack in case I have to change a tire on the soft or muddy shoulder. Had to do just that recently. Enjoy your new boat and be safe!

Gary...lol, thanks!

Ziggy...good suggestion, thanks. I'll play with everything several times.

Willy, I actually do that already. I usually have a 6' 2x4 and a small 2x6 on trailers for that reason, and also for leverage if you need a "2nd hand." Thanks!

Supposed to be rainy and very cold (around 36) for our in water test. SHould be fun!!! lol

have them show you all options and how they operate correctly make certain lugs are tight before leaving . I actually towed my boat home when i purchased it with the lt wheel loose . Could be why i felt it swaying but a new trailer didn't think to check it.

Thanks fixit!

They supposedly do a thorough training both out of the water and in. First, they have you inside and they show you everything top to bottom. Than during the in water you use it all.

Ill definitely check the trailer for the lugs being up to par.

Depending on how far you are towing it, you should consider jacking up each tire and give it a good spin. Then listen for the sound of bad bearings - kind of a rumbly or grinding noise. Good bearings make almost no noise at all except for a little shhhhh sound. If your towing it far, have bad bearings replaced so you don't have a bearing failure on the way home.

Thank you! Brand new trailer, but that doesn't mean anything I guess.

I will lift it up and check. I imagine I could lift it with a long 2x4.

Re: Picking up the boat on saturday...

Ok....Home and well! Sorry, had to wait until I was back at work today to post pics and give ya the info! Had to help the in-laws move all Sunday...

Anyway, got to the dealer at around 10 am Saturday. Signed off on everything (registration, paperwork etc.) and then did the in-water test. Two things before we even get in the boat...tach isnt working properly, and they have the wrong pitch on the prop. Supposed to be 21, they gave me 19.

So we dig around everything before it is launched to test, and everything else is perfect. Clean under the cushions, spotless engine compartment, everything matches and is in order. Stereo/cd/satellite works, all lights, switches, blowers...everything. Spent a good 20 minutes just doing this. Put the bimini up and down, etc...

So we launch for the in-water. It is brisk (about 42 with winds of around 15-20 mph) and the bay is choppy. Didnt matter. The boat handled very very well. Was careful with wot due to prop and tach, but was satisfied all was well. Was out for a good 30 minutes.

Got back, signed off on paperwork with the notation of a new prop and tach including the labor to correct which will be done in the spring. They winterized it, they checked trailer tire pressure, checked the lugs with torque wrench, and we were off.

Got home an hour later, and took some pics. Backed her into the garage, and there she stays until the spring. Havent had a chance to play in it yet, because of the busy weekend, but will be doing that tomorrow night before ice hockey.

SOme pics. I will get more tomorrow in the garage, and over the winter as I do some customizations with graphics. I plan on peeling off everything on it and doing my own thing.:D

Re: Picking up the boat on saturday...

Tell us more about the prop deal. How do you know that either a 19 or 21 is right? Do they owe you the 21? Need to test with a good tach as you know, but I am curious how you have determined what is correct . . .

That is what they told me. Not exactly sure how they know, but it is supposed to come with a 21, and there is a 19 on there. With the tach not working besides, no way to really know on my end or way for me to have tested this during the in-water test. According to the sea ray website and specs, the 21 is the prop for the 5.0 mpi.

They already ordered both tach and prop and it is in the paperwork I signed off on that they will take care of both including labor.

Do you think there is more to it?
