My brother and I are headed to Naples FL in the morning to pick her up!

Should be about a 10-11 hour drive (one way rental car). We'll stay in a hotel overnight and leave first thing saturday morning with the boat.

IF the weather is decent we'll hug the coast until Clearwater and then jog straight across the gulf to either Appalachicola or Panama City, refuel again and again depending on the severity of the weather either take the intercoastal the rest of the way to Dauphin Island or if it's still decent head back offshore to make better time.

Hope to be home by mid-day Sunday at the latest. Looks like it's about a 500-525 mile trip without the 2 fuel stops.

Here's the boat in case you'd like to take a peek! :D

Nah, I need to change that signature, the bass tracker is gone and the twin vee will be gone next week, so I'll be "down" to 3 power boats and the one Sail boat that never gets used but the wife won't let me sell it......

As cold as the weather is predicted to be it's a good thing it has a full enclosure... cabin does have heat (reverse cycle AC) so if need be we'll take turns gettin warm and piloting.. But the enclosure should keep the wind off of us and I'm hoping that combined with the heater going and the cabin hatch open it'll be fine at the helm.

Should be a great trip. We will try to keep the cold weather up here. Beware of shifting sands along the shoreline. I have hit sandbars 2 miles offshore by Indian rocks beach. (i think its called Indian shores now). it gets real shallow real fast. That was in another lifetime, when i was young and still lived down there.

That will be one heck of a shake down cruise.

Congrats.

Hopefully, after this weekend, I'll have a new boat as well. Boat Show.

Good Luck!

I first saw this boat's sister at a boat show here in 2004 and have been in love with it ever since. But it was almost $180,000.00 and had twin 225s on it... which are plenty enough but the twin 300s....

Yamaha says at around 30kts I should get 1.5 mpg......:(

forget the cold.. if had the chance to have that boat i would test drive it as long as the water wasn't frozen. I moved from naples a couple years ago if you have time check out michelbobs ribs and grouper and chips..If you want to fish without a boat just go down harbor drive off 41 at night drive until you get to a bridge then park somewhere north of the bridge and fish near and around the bridge and you will catch snook/mango snapper/gag grouper until your sick of it..

with it being a shake down cruise, it you don't have sea tow, now, get it before you leave. beats a $1,000 tow bill. i'm sure you will be fine, but it is cheap insurance.

I've had sea tow for 6-7yrs now...

And the insurance on this boat also covers emergency towing... That premium was a hard pill to swallow... I called 4 different companies and ended up having to get a declared value policy as 2 of the others wouldn't insure it for what was paid for it.... they all wanted to insure it for $144,000.00 so the premium was almost double..

Believe it or not State Farm had the best rate and coverage... Farmers the highest and Boat US was in the middle but still higher than SF.

Awesome boat. Can't beat a Pursuit for workmanship, fit, and finish. They're superb fish boats. Much like there cruiser counterpart, Tiara.

NO, dont do it! This is not the right weather for a long shake down cruise. To windy until next week. Can unserstand you wanting to pick up your new boat but be prudent and wait. Might even be small craft advisories issued this weekend. Right now noon FRI. the wind is gusting well above 20 mph. Boat that size can become awful small in the gulf in this weather. Cound be a boat ride from hell. Be safe and enjoy the boat when you get it home. regards FRED

More thinking, if you have to make the trip, pick up the ICW at the SANIBEL causeway. Plenty of places to put in if you have to. If you run into problems in pine island sound, got you covered. 239-283-3164. FRED

One more place to be cautious is up around the Hernando - Citrus county area. Lots of shoals and lots of rocks. Hope the trip goes well and enjoy your new rig!! ;)
