Pickup truck rear shock absorbers

this should be a simple and obvious item, but why do most pickup trucks have a shock on the front of the rear axel on one side and a shock on the back of the rear axel on the other side?.....

Staggered shocks minimize axle tramp or the axle jumping up and down when the wheels are spinning trying to get traction.

Staggered shocks also helps keep the rear axle from trying to twist from the torque as you accelerate. If you really think about all the forces being applied to the rear drive axles, anything they can do to help keep things in place is a plus.

in addition to the staggered shock comments above, there is only one axle bracket part number used twice vs two mirrored brackets. this reduces build costs a bit. think of it as a win-win
