Re: Pics for those already winterized ....

I'm hoping for another year like the past two. Didn't put the boat away for good until the middle of January last year and it wasn't until Feb in '05! Here is a pic from last years thanksgiving outing. Great weather to be out fishing in.

Up here in the BC/PNW it's all over but the crying....except for damp salmon fisherman.
My boats is tee'd up for winterization this week...after that its aquatic snooze time until spring.
.....good to see at least someone can get out there in a prolonged season.

Well, I just got off the boat about an hour ago. The air temp is in the high 70's, sea surface temp low 80's. Would be happy to post the odd tropical photo for your Northern folks this winter if I could figure out the system here.

That photo was taken from the patio area of a house we are building on Providenciales, here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The view is to the south over the Caicos Bank.

The water is exceptionally clear here. For example, this is just a piece of bamboo about seven feet long floating in four or five feet of water:

Another view of the Caicos Bank, from the roof of the garage:

Kids on Middle Caicos:

This is Pine Cay beach, one of Sail Provo's cats. I took this one with a remote control camera hanging from a tethered helium balloon:

Are these the kind of "winter" photos you like? We take a lot of photos here, both above and below the water.

Yes,
These are the type of photos everyone wants to see lol. I was on your Island of Provdenciales back in Dec of 2005, to bad I am not there this month.

It was a gorgeous island and the water is so Clear. I found a ton of Live sand dollars just snorkling off the beach. I also went Parasailing and you can get some great views up there of the water.

It is gorgeous there. Keep the pictures coming.

Well, it's been quiet this week, so far. The days have been getting cooler, only getting up near 80 deg, and down into the low 70's at night. The sea temp is right at 80. I actually put shoes on the other day. Well, crocs, but those are sort of like winter boots in a way. They are the warmest footwear I have, anyhow.
Weather this week has been clear, with the dawns all looking something like this:

The wahoo are here in force. Sometimes we get to keep them;

and sometimes we don't:

Ok. What do you like to see? old boat photos?:

more recent boat photos?:

Funky little islands?

Crowded beaches covered in footprints?

Aerials of crowded beaches?

we've taken something like 7,000 photos since we moved here in 2005. Be careful what you ask for.

Ok, ok....I'll stop.

But if you need a tropical fix this winter, you can always check out the blog. We put a fresh post up every day or two.

Re: Pics for those already winterized ....

Gringo,
The old or wrecked boat pics work for me... At least with those I can look at them and say, 'look at that, that's going to cost thousands of dollars and take years to fix; glad I'm not there to do it.' :D

Seriously though, I'll bet durring the summer it's so hot there that it's miserable. So, we'll have our season. :p

But this does reinforce my hypothesis, that I need a job that lets me have a northern summer home and a tropical winter home, with plenty of time off for fishing. I havn't yet figured out what that job is, but rest assured, if I figure it out, I'll keep it to myself. Ya'll are on your own! :D

They don't spend ANY money to fix or remove them here. If they run aground, they leave them right there until they break up and fall apart. It's pretty cool. Lots of wreck sites dating back to the 1500's. Estimated over 1,000.
