Re: pics of my weekend TINT upgrade!!!

Both the 4200 and 5200 come in 'quick cure' or 'fast cure', and in regular long as sh*t cure (about one week).

I think the quick cure stuff is only 24 hours. I think you should be ok, especially since you're relying on the screws to hold everything tight, instead of relying on the 4200/5200's adhesive glue properties.

If you did buy the 'long' cure stuff, and you plan to use it, only use it in very thin layers. If you put the 'long' cure 4200/5200 on too thick, it grows really weird bubbles/pustules/blisters as it cures.

Even if you bought the long cure 4200/5200, I bet you'd be ok since it is all held together real tight with the screws. (So there's no real stress on the 4200/5200 joint.)

And back on topic, your boat now looks like some Miami Vice or 'Secret Gov Agency' boat. Quite Snazzy! I'll bet you'll get some admiring looks from the local Vegas boat-cops!

Makes your capri look night and day different! Let us know how the 20% works out when on the water. Mine has some pretty worn 50-ish% tint on it and it really doesn't do more than change the looks a little, so I'll likely upgrade to a 20-35% depending on how you report yours working out. Be the guinnea pig for us :D

On the Tab install mark the drill bit with tape so you do not drill too deep. Its easy to go all the way through with a sharp bit.
The 7/32 bit worked fine in fiberglass for me...the screws snugged up good until the 4200 squeezed out.
Remember.....measure at least twice before drilling the holes..;)

The fast cure 4200 says 48 hours to be water ready.....

Use the old woodworkers trick of putting tape (I like blue painters tape) over the area to be drilled, mark the drill spots on the tape, then when done remove the tape. This helps to reduce chipping and tare out a lot.

The Dewalt brad points are good bits, but very soft material and bend/twist easily, be careful.

Boat looks good, who cares if its old or not when they are in good shape! let them spend 30-40k we have gas money!

Man that looks good.

This site is costing me money. Now, this winter, do I not only have to order my Smart tabs, swim platform, new props, LED's for the trailer, and a grill, now I have to get my windows tinted:D

I wonder if it would be cheaper for me to buy a new boat:rolleyes:.

Re: pics of my weekend TINT upgrade!!!

yes, but will you is the question:D

In about 18 years. When my youngest daughter finishes college.

We were planning on buying a new one in '09 when our warranty ran out. Well, four years ago that did not even make it to the back burner, it got put in the freezer.

So, as long as the "boss" lets me keep spending $$ on the boat we have on stuff I want, I think I can live with it.:D

Besides, boats come and go, daddys girls are forever:)

Exactly,

my boat is an 87 sea ray Sorrento S21 w/ 260 alpha one. The boat shows like its about 3 years old, nice gloss no scratches, rub rails have some small marks, interior is great, runs fantastic, would I like a new one yes, do I need one no.

If taken care of this boat will last a long time.

Kids are 10 and 8 and they are having a ball on the water, that is what is important.

Sorry for the hijack, we return you now to the previously posted program

Thats it, exactly. I love the fact that my daughter will have memories of the water for as far back as she can remember. Watching her have a blast out on the lake is what all the hard work/time spent on the boat is all for.

Man that's the truth....in almost everything in life.

If a deal comes along, you have to make the upgrade. And in today's economy, people are liquidating their toys. That deal could be sitting on Ebay, in your hometown right now, just gotta go search. Upgrading has so many PROS...maintenance, warranty, fuel efficient, the list goes on.

I say go for it.

I just bought my first boat, but if a killer deal is down the street, I'll polish her up and on Ebay she goes. Can't fall in love.
