I sold a buddy a boat in 05. It was my first boat BTW. He failed to maintain it other than having a brand new titlt and trim and jackplate installed for $1400 because ordering the parts seemed too overwhelming for him. I considered buying it back from him but changed my mind after seeing that lower unit is in serious disrepair.
(The carrier bearing assembly is exploded directly in front of the prop)
Now, he's ready to give it away but there are other "known" issues.
I guess my delima is I don't want to put money into title, registration, repair, etc, if the selling price would leave me uncompensated for my troubles.
What do ya'll think?
A bit about the boat:
16.5' boat 1972-titled as homemade(no HIN)
'93 mariner 90hp- lower unit damage
Sat for about 14 months.
Galvanized "Sportsman Trailer" with new rollers.
All Carpet on bunks DESTROYED DECAYED and Nearly Gone.
Hardware supporting Loading guide rails corroded to nothing.
(otherwise, trailer is nice)
Electronics not working, easy fix though.
Shifter is in poor but usable shape
Crappy wakeboard tower on it (needs to go)
Needs rope insert in Rub Rail. just make it extra nice
Buff gel coat neccesary.
Small hole in fiberglass deck (has been covered with a sheet of aluminum for years and years.)
Teak has Blackened completely
Vynil cooler seat in poor shape.
