Please view attached pic - there is water pouring from a hole in outboard. Is this from a bad head gasket or something else? Any description on exhaust/cooling systems would be helpful - or directions to a diagram. I find Clymer very unhelpful. Thanks

I don't know your answer as that engine is too new to me but if you can post the model or year and hp it would help others.

I would check the head(s) to see if it was running hot though when it's doing that. And check compression if you think the head gasket might be compromised.

Never seen water poring out of the exhaust relief port before, so I'd say it's not normal. Typically, you see a fine mist from both port holes, never a running stream.

I would ditch (or sell on Ebay) the Clymer and get an OEM shop manual, which will have a picture of the cooling water circulation. Try Ebay or outboardbooks.com

Is that engine running, or do you just have the hose running into it?

The engine is running with the ear muffs on it. This problem developed after treating it with seafoam. I applied some directly into cylinder for 30 min or so, then ran gas/oil/seafoam through it....and this happened.

I've seen that before with too much water pressure on a hose attachment.

You should have water spitting from both holes of the exhaust relief whenever the engine has run long enough to fill the outer chamber of the midsection.

Do you have good thermostats in place?
