I want a Jeep :-( I'm jealous. It may be a while before I can justify buying one. I already have a jacked up truck so the next vehicle will probably be a older muscle car. Even that wont be for a while though :-(
Another question... What do you have in the Jeep? In line 6? How capable are they of pulling a trailer? Me and my friend have been talking about it since he has a 90's 4.0l.
Real Jeeps have round headlights! LOL. Nice rig...What's under the hood? I've got a '76 that looks similiar.
And for Ryan, towing with a real short wheelbase can get hairy. Add a lift kit to the mix, and your courting the devil.
The jeep has a 4.0 with auto. ARB lockers front and rear. Ford axles and a spring over axle lift. The tires are 36x13.5 Iroks. I do pull my boat with it and it does pretty good. I go mostly back roads to the lake but have had to venture onto the highway a couple of times. I know under the right conditions I could end up in a ditch but I drive slow. I borrowed a dodge short bed regular cab truck with a Hemi in it to go get this boat when I bought it. Honestly I think my jeep handles it better. The truck wanted to fisktail going around sharp curves. I also got stuck in my yard trying to turn around.
I know I am not supposed to be posting new questions in others posts but it is somewhat related to the original post. I guess this may sound like a dumb question but what are the problems you run into with a short wheel base and pulling? I had a 05 Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 and pulling my 23' Wellcraft was a dream. Much better than my F-150 crew cab. My crew cab does have a 6" lift and 37" tires so I know that doesn't help.
The biggest issues I have had is if you swerve and hit the brakes the boat tries to push the back of the jeep around. The rear on a short wheelbase doesn't have far to travel before it is even with the front. The full size truck was longer but it was actuall pushed easier but it didn't feel as squirley. I have weighed my jeep with 2 people in it. Amazingly the front weighs 2080 pounds and the rear weighs 2180 pounds. I dont know how the front weighs less with the heavy straight 6 up there. I bet the short bed regular fullsize truck doesn't have 2180 pounds on the two rear tires.
