Scroll down to the end. There are pics of it painted. I painted it all with a high density roller and a good white bristle brush to tip off with. As for prep, like any paint job I think this is key. I sanded the boat down with 220 and then 320 before priming and then with 32o after the primer and in betwen each of the four coats of paint.

Welcome Aboard..
What type of hull? Glass or Tin??
I painted mine with Rustoleum and it's looking good (my opinion..)
Used foam rollers & had to use a brush for a few spots...

Look at Rickairmedics thread, his paint looks better than mine!

You know me, any excuse to show off.
Thanks for the spittle Kev.

Btw- that picture was taken approx two years ago the day I finished the second coat. In fact the masking tape is still in place in the picture. I am going to post some recent pics so that we can compare the look of the paint, two years later. The shine is still comparable. pics to follow

Love the Interlux Brightside Poly...amazing stuff.

I'm deciding about paint right now, can't wait for your pics of how it's held up! I've heard so many pros & cons about both interlux and rustoleum my head is spinning!

Sure looks good Wes. I've seen good results with both interlux & rustoleum & would like to hear how they each hold up. The painting thing isn't something I'll probably want to do again, so want something most durable. Isn't it true that certain colors hold up better to UV than others?

Wow! That is an excellent finish for a roller job. Is that how it dried after applying, or did you have to buff that shine out? Looks great!

From everything I have seen about Interlux Perfection, that is the way it drys with a deep shine without any need for buffing. Perfection is what I am choosing for my project since it drys a lot faster than Brightside (less chance for moisture, dust and bugs to get into the finish when painted in less than perfect environments)...

Drewpster is that Fighting Lady Yellow?

Thanks for the kind words. As long as I've been painting...yes. That said, certain types of paint hold up better than others. IMO you'll be repainting because you want a different color before it actuall wears out.

Personnaly I found the Brightside to "flash" rather quickly which helped with bugs/dust, etc... Drying time was a couple of days (if I recall correctly) unitl it was truly hard. I painted mine outdoors, at night, in June. Aside from the usual surface prep, I washed down the area surrounding where I was painting, and kept it wet while I painted. No issues with bugs, dust, etc. No buffing or corrective activities once the paint was on.

Painting the hull will be interesting as I won't be flipping it over...no flat surface area...but gravity  will be a bit challenging with this "high floating" paint.

Re: Pictures of rolled on paint???

Perfection is applied using the same methods as Brightside. After you get the surface prepped. Roll it on with a short nap roller then lightly tip it off using a fine bristle brush. The rocket science comes in with the prep and the conditions on painting day. You need calm wind and lower temps. Dead calm and about 65-70 degrees F is ideal. If it is warmer you can add a little thinner to help the paint flow. You need thin coats (but thick enough to fully cover on each pass). Perfection does not need any buffing. What you see is what you get. My wife has the camera so the two year pics are on hold. I will get them up in this thread ASAP.
