pinging noise 86 90hp Evinrude

Starts up and runs fine, at mid range the engine pings while under load, but runs fine and very strong at WOT, I get about 5300 RPMs.<br />I have looked at all plugs and they all look identical (seems to be firing properly)<br />Any suggestions....

According to the manuals, any pinging noise is not good and the cause should beb investigated before running the engine further.
