This thread seems to be composed of some very very normal and healthy people inspite of what the Government tries to cram down our throats. No matter what you eat, or try not to eat.... some agency will find fault and then later reverse itself. Like SBN and JB say.... live life and enjoy.

'trans fat" is any fat that becomes a solid at room temperature. and hydrogenated, is a trans fat attached to a water molecule to make a spred. better to have real butter. its more digestible ,more nutritious

Black coffee if good
2 creams 2 sugars in most cafe's
Used to drink coffee all day long and at night also
Now maybe 4 cups a week and not always.
Not a silly health issue.
No place around here where you can go to have a cup of coffee and a smoke.
On the bright side I started comming up with extra money. I was spending $240.00 a month on coffee alone. Would rather still be spending the money! Oh well.

The closer to the source the better,IMO. I don't take anything sweet in my tea and don't drink coffee. But I would use honey if I did. If I need a sweet tooth cure I kill it with chocolate. Its the only way.
Bassy

Coffee black, lemon only in my tea. If I decide to put anything at all in my coffee and ocassionally I do, then t's one cream and one sugar.

If I EVER sweeten anything, it's natural-with sugar.

Ladyfish is BS'ing us. She sweetens with Rum. :p

Just kidding-LF!

Err, apologies, but what is the pink stuff and what is the blue? I try not to eat/drink anything artificial so I'm not sure what you guys mean.

Triton II

Pink stuff is "Sweet & Low" which is saccharin.

Blue stuff is "Nutrasweet" which is aspartame.

Yellow packets are "Splenda" which is sucralose.

I hope that helps.

Bob

Switched from coffeee to green tea. mostly cause I eat so poorly otherwise and green tea is supposed to be up there with some of the bettter vegetables as far as anti-oxidants and flavinoids. Originally drank it with honey, but have gradually cut down & now drinking it straight is ok.

Still drink coffee when company is around. A cup of strong coffee with lots of sugar and cream is almost like a desert! And I'd much rather deal with the effects of sugar than god knows what the artificial stuff might do to you long term.

Does anyone remember the "cyclemates" scare in the early 70"s? Sweet n low was alleged to have this ingredient which was found to kill rats in lab tests. I have used the stuff for 35 years with no ill effects. Last year I saw an article that denounced the entire study, and it was not deadly. Duh! Took 30+ years?

What about the new "Truvia" "Nature's Calorie-Free Sweetner?
I used to add four sugars to me coffee, now I'm using one of these truvia packets, doesn't leave the after taste that the others do.

Oooo.. Some posts just live forever! This one started in 2005...

I've found that many of the sugar substitutes have an aftertaste. Aspertame makes my mouth go dry... bleh.. .might as well sweeten with sand.

3 year old thread, cool.
I eat whatever I want when I want to. Its usually semi healthy stuff. We all have our weakness. Mine is strong black coffee. Sugar and creamer dont belong in coffee.
