Hi, all. Even though I have a perfectly good 1988 Sylvan with 115 hp Merc, I still look at old boats much of the time. I located two of them, $275 each, no trailers or motors, but value is very subjective, right? One is about a 1959 Pipestone Chieftan. I know almost nothing about the boat or the company and would like to learn more if anyone knows. I'm aware that Bayliner took over the facility in the early 70s or so. The other is a 1958 (I think) Crestliner 17' Flying Crest. I'd like opinions on which one, if restored, would best represent the era, and also the ups and downs of resoring aluminum vs. fiberglass. The Crestliner is in better shape and may not need repainting, just restoration of the paint that's on it now. The Pipestone is pretty well stripped and would need much more work, I'm sure. Would greatly appreciate any insight, comments, info, or opinions on these two.
