I needed a new prop for my boat (16' low profile speedboat) with a Evinrude 135. I had a couple of 17" pitch 3 blade props but wasn't ever happy with the performance. I decided to try the Piranha prop since they will exchange blades if you don't get the right pitch for your setup. I ordered a 4 blade 18" prop and finally got to try it out today. In a nutshell I love this new prop. I use the boat for water sports and the hole shot is tremendous even though I have some issues with my motor not being adjusted right (throttle won't open fully at WOT). Thinking about ordering a second 3 blade 19" for speed.

Nice to hear the new prop is doing you well. Seems you should fix the throttle issue before getting any prop, let a lone buy a second for speed when you know you have an issue. Fix the issue before buying props and you only buy the props one time... fix it later and you'll be buying another set later.

My $.02

Happy boating!

Re: Piranha prop review

I agree, just worked out that way since I didn't realize I had the throttle issue until after I put the prop on. My old prop was pitched way too low so I ended up over revving and and never realized it was not properly synchronized since I couldn't run full power. It's not far off, just doesn't open fully. I'm at 4800 rpm WPT now so guessing it should be perfect when done.
