piranha props

lads i am after buying a piranha prop for my 70hp evinrude is a ny one else running them as the primary prop? are there any pitfalls any opinions any advice etc??

Is there any reason you want one? Do you damage alot of blades etc? The piranha prop is expensive, I concidered one but went with the pro-pulse sweden made prop that also have the replacement blades and adjustable pitch, these props are cheap and the replacement blades very cheap, I was amazed to the performace of the prop .......

well they are cheaper here than the ally or stainless ones! here being the west of ireland. the main reason is that IF i do hit anything its cheap $20us to replace a blade as against 179euro for the whole prop. one mate mentioned the one that you have after i had bought mine might try one of them at a later date.

8) piranha props run pretty dam good when the're used as a primary prop. especially if your prop takes on any impact you only run the risk of damaging the blades which are interchangeable and replaceable so it makes things eaiser, not to mention spare blades only cost twenty dollars a piece. I'll tell ya its pretty nice carrying spare blades on my boat compared to a bulky prop. check out the prop picker on their website at www.piranha.com its got a simple way to fit the right prop to an engine if you know your make, year, and hp.

The only downfall is, rarely when you run aground do you only do damage to one blade. An aluminum prop can be repaired for $40.00 to $60.00 dollars, the same cost it would take to replace two or three blades.

the problem i found was that they could no take everyday knocks like an ally/ stainless prop. i went through a patch of weed that had a small piece of wood in it, that damaged all the blades. i am sure that no damage would have been done to a metal prop

The advantage of the Piranha prop is that it can be repaired on the spot or repitched for low speed water sports. P.C.
