Bollerwagon,
I am now both curious and confused and need your help.
He now grinded a tiny bit out of the second gap and rings fit well.
So, the issue of fitting the rings is now all set and your shop got them installed by griding the wiper groove on all 4 pistons? I have never heard of that before so highly curious about it. Any info you can share is appreciated.

Next problem: the valve guides are too loose, valves wiggle a lot.
Is this a new to you motor that you got and based on some advice immediately took apart? Ie have you ever seen it run? Why the recommendation to disassemble? My confusion is, in part, these extremely loose valve stems that I would think would cause the motor to smoke like a locomotive. And want does “All cylinder values were within tolerances, so we only replaced bearings” mean exactly?.

A history of the motor and a broader picture of what is going on may help to provide you with some other elements to look out or and / or check.

Thanks
