Hello All,

What head would you guys use the one with gray goop seems pitted to me while my old one (from a blown 40hp johnson) seems more smooth and glassy curious what opinions you all would have in regards to water leakage because I'm currently haveing a water intrusion problem and if it isn't this I'm guessing a crack or hole somewhere.

Those cylinder heads are cast using the " lost wax process " that leaves all those marks that may look like pitting / porosity.

So with good gasketing and no warping i can eliminate this as my cause for water i feel. Specially with how much water it is. My intuition it telling me there is a crack or hole somewhere in the block luckily the company i got the powerhead from is sending me a new block at their expense. Ill keep everyone posted ill probably tear it down while waiting for the new block.

The exhaust ports are casted i know on older models they were removable weren't they? is there anything other area i might have water coming in? the base gasket is fresh and torqued to spec i also cleaned the threads.

side note to bad my boat isn't running we are about to get some major flooding here in dardanelle arkansas river area from all the rain in OK.
