Removed my outdrive this weekend and took a number of pictures. When I returned home I started looking through the number of Manuals I have collected and noticed something I could not find in the parts catalogue or pictured in the manuals but on my outdrive. There are a several pictures of the Pivot Cap Assembly which shows the two bolts and Zirk Fitting. No mention or picture of the Black Bumper that goes over it. Were there some models Pre 74 that did not have them?

the bumper snaps on over the two slot head screws in your picture. They all had them as far as I know.

You need to finish painting that thing before you put it back on!

Thanks Boomyal. No arguments on cleaning things up. The main idea for removing the drive was for ID and to clean the corrosion off the drive and the intermediate, and paint it with the original color. I will be starting with the smaller pieces and work my way up to the Exhaust Housing, Lower and Upper Gear Cases.

Example of a Stringer OutDrive without the Bumpers on the Pivot Assembly. This is a 71 High Profile 210HP Drive:
