Re: Pivoting double bow rollers problem

I'm going to tell my wife what you called her. :)

besides i'm originally from TX. wench and winch are the same...same goes for pen and pin.

I took some pics and will post them a little later.

Since I married a Galveston Lady, I can vouch for pen and pin. But not wench and winch.

another update - I lowered the winch by about two inches and it launched without the bow eye touching the lower roller. this was at the Fort Case boat ramp which is much shallower. We'll try the Cultus Bay ramp later this week. I'm thinking this may have resolved the problem.

I'll try to figure out the picture posting thing and post what I have.

Re: Pivoting double bow rollers problem

this is not working and I need to get back to working...

should be easy enough...get the url for the picture from facebook and paste that into the field when you click insert image. but the preview show a little black box with an x in it. I'll maybe try again.

but in the mean time here is a link to the album on skydrive - https://skydrive.live.com/redir?resid=799548F321CBDBCF!603&authkey=!Pv9LwGa5Flo$

let me know if you would like additional views/angles.

Re: Pivoting double bow rollers problem

your problem IS backing in too far... next time you go out, stay out long enough for the carpet bunks to dry and then come back and spray them down with silicon spray lube... go back out while they dry again... when you retrieve the boat don't back in as far... maybe 3-4 feet further forward.... your problem will be gone

You can add or adjust keel rollers to take more weight off of the bunks also on most trailers

The top roller on the bow stop should be firmly against the top of the bow eye when the boat is on the trailer

Shallower and I would try lowering the winch some more. It's still above parallel and lifting the bow. A straight pull to the eye usually works better. The lower bolt on the winch pad looks like it can go under the brace. Can't hurt to try and you said lowering the winch helped some, so maybe some more.

BTW - Good looking boat. I Googled and happened to find it on Yachtworld. Nicely set up.

Re: Pivoting double bow rollers problem

Just had a look at the three pics of the boat and trailer, I would say you need more bunk to support the weight as the bow stop is taking to much of it.
But then you said you dropped the rollers down and everything's good.

Well there you go, easy fix. :joyous:

Re: Pivoting double bow rollers problem

Possible last update. We took the boat and launched from the Cultus Bay boat ramp and she slid right off the trailer without the bow eye catching the lower bow roller. The boat will stay in the water thru the weekend so I drug the trailer home with me. I'll rinse off the carpeted bunks and allow them to dry for the day. I'll spray them down with a silicone spray lube before we retrieve her on Sunday evening. In between we hope to catch a lot of crab and a few salmon.

GA - I agree she is a good looking boat. She can handle just about any weather I'm willing to venture out in. I'm not very venturesome. :)

Thanks for all the insight and suggestions.

Good boating,
Bob
