Pivots Pins

Are the pivot pins supposed to move when lowering or raising the Drive? Replaced my trim sensor and gauge and it works fine when rotating by hand but when installed the gauge stays in up position. I noticed the drive moves about 90 degrees but the 12 point pin only moves about 10 degrees. Are the pins loose or tight or could it be something else? Thanks

The way I do mine when I replace it is to get someone in the boat watching the gauge set the outdrive with the cavitation plate parallel to the boat keel, then remove the sender and rotate the hexagonal nut/plastic bit until the person in the boat tells you it is set at '0' degrees, then replace it in the pivot bolt and fine tune it to '0' degrees again and tighten the screws.
Have fun.

My sender did not go to zero. Only went to like 16 ohms. Had to turn plastic not 90 degrees to get gauge to move up to down. The pivot pin does not rotate enough to move the gauge. I suspect the NEW sender is bad or wrong part. Have a new part on the way and I will check ohms before installing.

I was talking about the trim gauge in the boat hence having someone watching it.

The sender should be set to 10-12 ohms before you install it to the gimbal ring. If 16 ohms is the lowest you can get, you probably have a bad sender.
