You guys have got me thinking. Can I use PL Glue to glue my deck down instead of mixing up some peanut butter? I'm thinking it'll make the job go quicker and save a little money on materials.

You can get an idea of the gluing surfaces here.

i don't see why not. it will be there when the wood is gone. i've been using it on transoms, put it down and run a slotted trowel thru it, so it will spread, the lay the deck, use screws on a lot of weight.

Thanks. I'll probably use that. It'll likely save me a quart or so of epoxy. There's really nothing to screw then deck down onto. No stringers in this one. They did originally use 2 bolts through the hull in one spot.

This is what it ended up with.

These are where they originally had 2 bolts in the bottom. Unless someone has a real good reason not to. I plan on patching these holes. I'm almost certain this is one of the points of failure.

Hmm, I already have a couple of tubes of liquid nails. I wonder if that's just as good as PL.

I'm going to glue my deck down with PL. Cheaper than epoxy. I will also be filleting and glassing the top with epoxy, so either way it'll be verry strong.

I've also tried the PL concrete crack and mortar filler... works nice as a sealant, doesn't dry as hard as the PL premium and doesn't bubble from what I can see.

That sounds exactly like what I was thinking about doing. And I'll go with the PL and leave the Liquid Nails for other projects.
