Plaining Problems

I HAVE A 2.3 LITER 1987 4 CYLINDER 18 FOOT BAYLINER. WHEN I GIVE IT GAS IT TAKES A LONG TIME TO PLAIN OUT , ONCE IT PLAINS IT RUNS FINE. bUT IT TAKES LIKE A MINUTE OR TWO TO PLAIN OUT. CAN ANYONE HELP?

Do you have power tilt, & trim, on the boat? If so, it needs to be all the way down when you begin to plane. Plus, a hydrofoil, or (Smart tabs, as praised here) would help.

what drive unit do you have? if the vp270 or one of the others in that series without trim make sure the middle hole is used on the pin. Mine doesn't have that planing problem at all and I have the AQ125a engine with the vp 270 drive.

Go with a set of smart-tabs and never look back

Skip the hydrafoil- you only recommend those to enemies

Get the smart tabs-- I have them also - the best dollar I have spend on my boat yet I have a 190 Chap
