I just took out my 1986 Celebrity 210cc for the first time. It has a mercruiser magnum 350 with an alpha one outdrive. Boat takes about 30-40 seconds to plain out. Don't know what to look for on RPM's out of the hole. Motor running strong.

Re: Plaining question

I would think that you will come in last in any kind of race with that kind of planing performance . . . there can be a variety of reasons that a boat's performance does not live up to expectations. As Bond-o indicated, a bit more information about your boat's performance would be helpful.

Assuming that the motor is doing its thing, you would want to consider things about the boat:

Condition of the hull . . .
Water logged foam . . .
Propeller issues . . .

Hull is in good shape, Prop is old stainless steel. Will find out size and pitch. Thanks

Re: Plaining question

Just found out from the previous owner that the boat has self leveling plates which I can see that are hydrolic. He does not know if I need to turn on a switch to activate them. He just told me to check the fluid. I thought they were for rough water not getting on plane

Re: Plaining question

Tabs can be very helpful getting on plane.
A picture of the tabs might help. At 30 to 40 seconds to plane I would hope the tabs are deactivated.
Are there hydraulic lines going to rams on the tabs or just small ram like devices on the tabs?

Re: Plaining question

Find out why the reservoir was empty, there has to be a leak somewhere. Good for you on figuring it out. Now finish the repair and get that hull wet.

Re: Plaining question

Port side did not have a clamp on the hose. Ran several times no leaks yet. Thanks again
