Planing Stringers

I was wondering if anyone had tried using an electric hand planer to trim the fiberglass off the top of stringers for re-coring?

Unless it had carbide blades it would only cut a few inches before it was dull and smoking.

and the dust will be horrible. and will eat the bearing out of the planer.
