I intend to add a charger jack out side of the engine compartment to access jump starting the boat instead of moving the bench and all the stuff in it from the hatch over the motor well. should the need arise. also would serve for a battery charger connect at home.
advice please.

Do you have a troller socket on the boat?

That is what I used on RED SKY as a plug in for the charger. It was fused for 40 amps.

I don't think it would do as a battery jumper connection, though. Starters often draw hundreds of amps and any wiring smaller than about 1 or 2 AWG could melt if they were trying to carry full starter current.

If you used modified jumper cables to a connector good for, say, 100 Amps it sounds like a cool idea.

Ayuh,..... I Agree with JB,......

Your Idea will be Fine for charging the batteries,....
But,....
For Jumping a Dead Battery,..... You'll need Atleast a 200amp connector......
With Ott, or Double Ott cabling.....

found a trolling motor receptacle and plug at the marine store, so wip putting it in, in a jump start situation I suspect that I would have to give it a while to charge off the don er battery and disconnect before starting.

They make quick disconnect for battery cables. It's a big plug .

I used to have one on a tow truck I drove, check towing supplies or race car stuff too it's the same as the ones NASCAR uses.

Not made for marine application but if you replaced the wire with marine battery cables and put some dieelectic grease on it you'll be fine
