Plastic plugs on toons

I want to check my toons for water but I have those plastic plugs They screw off .My problem is that they don't want to unscrew. Am I turning them the wrong way.It's a Starcraft.2007.All I'm doing is chewing up the bolt head.When I get them off I'm going replace them with brass plugs.

Boy, Silver Eagle, I can't imagine a good vice grip, clamped down really tight, wouldn't break that loose without stripping !!! Righty tighty, lefty loosie.

I would replace them with plastic plugs again. The factory plastic ones have a small hole in the middle. This keeps the toons at equal pressures. Thinks of you pontoon sitting on the trailer in the sun, the toons get hot, then you drop the boat in the water. The toons instantly cool off, causing a vacuum inside the tubes. If your tube has a crack, common by the bracket welds around the the top of the tubes, and it goes under when the boat comes off the trailer, water will be sucked into the tube.

I don't know if my plugs are factory or not.They are white plastic with no hole in the center with an O ring at the base. I'm going down to the summer home later to check it out .I'll post tonight what I find. Onething to note ,My plugs are all ways in the water when in Use.

I removed the plastic plug,Channel locks were of no help. Had to chissle out ther plastic using a thin screw driver. It looks to be around a 3/4 inch opening. By the way the toon was dry.I stopped off at a pontoon dealer on the way home and got one plug in chrome steel and one in plastic. I will be down in Maryland on Friday.Me, the plugs, and some teflon tape.
