Plastic water pump tube

Just installed a new raw water pump on my mc 1 outdrive, the new pump came with a plastic tube that slips into the output on the water pump, the old pump did not have the piece of pipe, it has a metal pipe coming down from the upper unit that slips right into the output, what do I do with this tube try to use it or throw it away.

It is a guide tube I would use it.

As Mark said, a guide. It makes putting the drive back together a lot easier. You only need to watch the copper water tube into the guide, then you can concentrate on other things (and there's plenty to concentrate on!)....(gives you about 2-1/2" extra play space)
