Re: zero oil pressure, '09 mercruiser. HELP!

Re: zero oil pressure, '09 mercruiser. HELP!

Hello guys...I have a 2009 model 4.3 TKS mercruiser with a whopping 26 hours on it..I changed the oil and water separator. Took it out for the first time about an hour ago and now i have zero oil pressure. figured it needed time to build pressure so I let it run for about 30 seconds-1 minute. low pressure alarm still blaring. pulled the filter and it was bone dry...tried to run it for 30 seconds a pop about 4 or 5 times to no avail. Filled the filter with oil and still no help..what is going on?? Please help! I hope I did not damage it! I have no Idea how a simple oil change could result in this..
Hi there, First off you posted in the wrong forum, This is outboards, The I/O section is further down in the main page area.

To get started though, Tell us in detail how you changed the oil in your boat, From start to finish?;) Thanks.:)

Re: zero oil pressure, '09 mercruiser. HELP!

Sorry about posting in the wrong forum..got a little excited I guess..

as for changing the oil, i did nothing out of the ordinary..

1) drained oil (it is equiped with the drain tube that is pulled through the drain plug)
2) replaced plug
3) removed/replaced oil filter
4) filled with reccommended oil (4 quarts, up to fill line on dipstick..did not overfill)

I have been performing routine maintenance in my vehicles for years..I am no mechanic, but do have a good working knowledge of motors (at least I thought I did!)

also, filter is the exact type as removed, and reccommended by mercury for my engine.
