Hi there,

Could you give more information about the overheating problem?

What kind of beep does the alarm give out and when? All the time or just after the engine has got warm? Does the S.L.O.W function operate? If overheated the engines rpm should be limited to 2500rpm.

I have also a Johnson 60Hp -89 on my boat.
It's a very nice engine and has worked great.

Robbi

does anyone know what the bolt torque is for a 1989 johnson 60 hp for the lower unit bolts, also my motor suddenly overheated last weekend, and I had a steady stream of water from the pea hole, the alarm started as a slow beep, and the went to a solid alarm, the motor was hot to the touch on all three cyclinders,it was getting plenty of oil I know because I just installed a new VRO plus I ran 50:1 oil/fuel as well,I flushed out the cooling system and it still gets hot what could be causing this problem. please e-mail me at jamesjwal@comcast.net thank you!

could be just a bad sensor
verify engine temp a infared heat gun works well over 100 under 145-150 at idle ok try disconnecting brown wires with horn sounding too see what is tripping alarm.... oil tank sensors are known to be cause of a lot of false signals
do you have a manual?? if not buy one best money you could spend
