Ok I have a 1988 60 hp Johnson vro I just bought and the vro had been disabled by cutting the oil line. Since the boat had been sitting for 3 years the orginal pump is bad. So I replaced with a non vro style pump. This is where is gets good. The guy at the marina told me the wrong hookups and I hooked the fuel into the vacuum port and did not realize. I could kick myself for not checking but too late now. I then tried to crank and it turned over then the starter completely locked. At first I thought the starter was bad but after careful inspection it was fine. So a day later I figured out what was going on and removing the bottom spark plug gas started pouring out. So I then took out all the plugs and turned the motor over twice for about 30 seconds. I had the plugs out and after disconnected the coil. I then tried to removed the brass vacuum hookup to see if I can get any gas to drain and I broke off the fitting. So now I have to somehow easy out the broke fitting and get my motor back running. Ok first questions is did I damage anything? The gas was premixed at 50:1 so everything should of been lubricated. So what should I do. I currently have the bottom plug out hoping it would evaporate some of the fuel ove night and I am going to try and tackle it tomorrow. The second issue is that once I remove the broke vacuum fitting can I just screw in a 1/8 piece of pipe and hook the vacuum line to it? Or is there something special about that fitting. It looks like it has a check valve in it but I can blow it both ways. Any help will be greatly appericated. I have less than a month to get this boat going.
