I have called several marine shops to find intermediate shaft bearings, seals, ujoints, and bellow. The model # I give them that are on the tags they say are no good. Shop wants $130 to identify the equipment. If you could please help that would be greatly appreciated. Also does engine need to be pulled to gain access to intermediate shaft bearings? The ujoints look perfect but sounds like bearing is growling in engine bay. Thank you for your time!

Here is the drive, Tag 854021 DPA-195

Shaft Housing #868130

Here is a link to the parts for that flywheel housing Flywheel Housing And Mounts 4.3GSPMDA - 7748020 - Volvo Penta

Ujoint bellows OEM PN is 876294 same as all those style drives.

As far as pulling the shaft, if there isn't a lot of rust and corrosion in the flywheel cover, you may be able to remove the seals and snap rings and use some big vise grips to grab the shaft (protect the splines from the vise grips) without pulling the engine. If that doesn't work out, then you will have to pull the engine and be a bit more persuasive.

Thank you Don for your reply. Just to clarify. I will be able to change bearings without puling the motor if the shaft comes out?

Thanks again.

No, I said you might be able to. You won't know until you try.

Re: Please help Identify equipment!

Good Morning,
I removed the seal and the three snap rings, but the shaft wont come out. I tried putting some vise grips on the shaft and pulling out but cant get enough bite to get a good yank. Is there anything else I can do to try to remove this bearing? I'm glad I did not skip this repair before splashing the boat cause this bearing is shot and there is play in the shaft. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Nolan

Might try some heat on the outside of the housing near the bearing. Other than that, it's pull the engine and drive it out.

Thank you for your reply Don, That is a good idea I will try that. Gonna let it soak with penetrating oil while i go to work and get after it when I get home.:)

Shaft was removed with a slide hammer welded to vice grips, a couple slaps and it was out. I used a cut open soda can wrapped around the teeth of grips. No damage done to splines.
