Hi guys! I have a 1995 15hp evinrude short shaft outboard. I'm looking to upgrade to a 25hp motor. I have a chance to buy a 1999 Yamaha Enduro 25hp for $1150. From what I have been able to find out, the Enduro motors are made for the non-us markets. If I ever have trouble with the Yamaha how screwed will I be trying to get it repaired? I'm also looking for feedback on the overall quality of these engines. Thanks! Joey P

1150 bucks for a ten year old 25hp? Why would you pay that much? Didn't say where you are(market) or if is saltwater used(don't buy 10 yr old motor from salt for that price....it may be pristine on outside but will be oh so ugly inside....i would laugh at that price here.

Re: Please help me decide on a motor

I'm up in NH and the motor is in Maine. The current owner states it has been used in fresh water only but i doubt he knows the complete history of the motor. I have not been able to find any good motors for short money. The 15hp evinrude i have now (a '95) i paid $950 for and I had to drive almost 2 hours to pick it up. If you have a better option in florida you want to sell / trade me let me know ;)

That doesn't seem like a bad price for a newer Yamaha (although I would offer the guy $1000). About 6 months ago I sold my 1980 25 hp Johnson on Ebay for $1025 plus the guy paid $150 shipping on top of that.

I'm pretty sure the parts for that motor are the same as the rest regardless of where it was made. Yamaha's are suppose to be the best made motors.

You could probably sell your Evinrude on Ebay and get around $700 or more depending on appearance providing that you ship the outboard.
I've noticed used outboards are getting cheaper by the month since the economy is tanking so get yours sold.
