Going to use short form points for faster reading.
-Hooked up another tachometer-still no reading
-have power at the plug for tach
-tried shorting out signal wire- still no movement in tach
-have continuity from guage plug to rectifier end
-stator plug (yellow and yellow/gray) have no resistance, manual says it should read .16 ohms, yellow wire had seen heat, plastic plug was slightly melted
-stator plug leads when grounded had no no connection at all (on this forum I read it should have high reading 530-700ohms
-Did Joe Reeves test on rectifier and had resistance readings going both ways which I believe means rectifier is blown(readings are same both ways)
-motor starts and idles fine
-no readings on guages except on voltmeter
-battery is getting charged at idle .20-.40Volts
Just wondering if you guys can determine if stator is blown and why it still runs.Appreciate any help you can give me. Thanks in advance.

I believe this is right, the rectifier only changes AC current to DC current to charge the battery and has nothing to do with the engine running, it is only so you can charge the battery and run the tach.
If you know the rectifier is blown you should change it, check here at iboats or on Ebay.

Anybody know if I can run the boat while I wait for the rectifier to arrive. If the rectifier is blown other than the charging wire as I still get charging to the battery when motor is running, will this ruin the stator. As mentioned earlier the tach does not work. This is the reason for replacing it. There is a tournament this weekend I would like to fish. Thanks

When doing a rectifier/regulator test should the battery be connected and key switch on or should the rectifier be removed from the block.Anybody know if I can run the boat while I wait for the rectifier to arrive.
