Welcome Steve,
I would say your having fuel pump bladder troubles off hand, get a complete carb kit new fuel lines and shut off valve and downlaod the engine /carb manual set everything to spec and sync the carb to the SSI or points.
You can get a new gasket for the reeds cage and clean them & check for bent or blocked reeds, sometimes one or two might get blocked open at the base from junk.

Thanks crab, you should know that I rebuilt the carb before and it had always done this since,I have no experience with it before that.I rebuilt it add soon as I got it.also,I have been told all eska power heads are made by Tecumseh.if that's true, wouldn't it be easier to find tec motor parys instead of eska boat motor parts? Thanks again

Eska and Tecumseh are both owned by www.certifiedpartscorp.com they have partnerships with CPD online and anyone who uses the Tecumseh parts online catalog w/ diagrams, lots of partnerships involved in those relationships, I naturally buy from the cheapest source of genuine Eska/Tecumseh parts

I would still check the pump bladder & flapper valve because its the only way I can think of to get pressure back to the tank to make the gas bubble

Re: please help with eska 7.5 problem

Well I went by Steve's tonight and checked things out, he had cleaned up the carb and reeds (had found some Rtv holding one of the reeds partly open) and while there, I gave the rope a pull and heard a hissing.... nope, plug was tight. I removed the tank/recoil assembly. We got some soapy water and squirted it on the side of the head/jug joint where the oily reside was. Yep, leaking head gasket, blasting against the air ducting from fan/flywheel to the side of the cylinder, and heating up the gas tank.... that's my theory anyhow! I'll look up the parts on that CPC link as Stevo had the parts book. We determined it to be a '74 model.

Re: please help with 1987 Gamefisher 7.5 problem

Hate to jump in here guys, but I am not quite sure how all this works yet. I just bought a 1987 Gamefisher mod. #217-585750. I had a leak in the bottom of the built in tank and I fixed that, but when I tried to star it up it started but I noticed gas coming from front of covering. I opened it up and the carb. was pouring gas out of it and out of a small hole on the very top of carb.
Never repair one and where do I get replacement parts and would rebuilding it work? I would like to go ahead and replace water pump if not to hard and the fuel shut off valve too, because it leaks! HELP!!!!!

Thank you Mr. Crab. I have never done this before. I had the cover off where the fuel lines go into the carb. Is that the reed you are talking about? I would also like to know what kind of engine is mine, it is a 1987 model? Is there a place I can go to get all this equipment and where is the online instruction booklet at to see how to do this? I really appreciate all the help you can give me!

Re: please help with 1987 Gamefisher 7.5 problem

This AM I searched the CPC web site, they don't have Eska parts breakdowns listed at least as far as I could tell. Steve has the manual and parts book so we have Eska part numbers, I'll have to call the 800 number I guess. And yes MrCrabs, I was thinking some socket head cap screws if hex heads don't have enough clearance for a socket on those head bolts.

This thing seems like a toy, I work on big marine diesels for a living.

Here's what we do,
Go to sears parts online, put in your model number or you can use partstree http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=tecumseh&mh=19,23

ID your parts and call CPC, or you can order from http://www.boatsportandtackle.com/servlet/StoreFront there are several places to buy from but the ones I mention will be authorized dealers.

CPC is at the core of all Eska/Tecumseh parts suppies, I like them because there fair on shipping charges and I know them and they know me.
Look under Vintage for the phone number and have your model number and part numbers handy.

edit; here is what's on my new short block for head bolts, http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/Socket-Head-Cap-Screw-4XU78?Pid=search

Yeah, thats what you want or a little dremel work:eek:
