So im on the lake 74 johnson 25 hp and the lower unit is jumping like im hitting something.only does it in forword.and when i acclerate.any one one know what that would be.thanks

Check your lower unit oil for metal particles, sounds like your clutch dog is jumping in and out of gear.

Drain and inspect lower unit oil. Post and photo if possible of what you find. It appears like it is time to check some gears out.

I dont here gears grindeing and i have changed oil and no metel.and it rebs up sometimes to

Are you saying that the engine revs up or jumps in and out of gear?
Jumping in and out of gear sounds like a clutch dog problem.
Reving up and then catching at lower speeds sounds like a spun prop hub.

Probably need to replace fwd gear and clutch dog. Failure usually caused by "gentle" shifting.
