I have made a few post with no responces. I have a 1996 Force 75 on a deck boat. The motor runs great and pulls in RPMs. I think the timing is off. What are the timing specs? I also have a line of oil like sludge coming for the upper exhaust hole below the engine cover. Should I be concerned?

Re: please help

timing should be 28 degrees static timed and the streak of oil is probably unburned 2 stroke oil exiting the exhaust ports ..... why do you feel the timing is off.... Does the engine ping or knock or lack power there of

Re: please help

I broke the plastic rod end for the timing adjustment. So when I replaced it I kind of put it where I thought it should be. I just finished up setting the timing and it was way advanced. I set the timing at 32 and WOT cranking. Would being too advanced kill my power. The motor ran good on the water but it was lacking in power, no pinging or knocking. It pulled high rpms 5800. The boat was hard to plane and took some time to get up to speed. I have the right prop according to prop wizard. I am going to decarbonize the motor tomorrow. What rpms should the motor idle at? Thanks for the reply.

Re: please help

I wonder if all the posts that got no response were titled "please help". That is a terrible title. It tells helpers nothing and many will simply pass it up in favor of titles that tell them they can be of help.

If you had used a title like, "Setting timing on my 1996 Force 75" you would probably have gotten more and faster help.

Read the sticky on getting the best results. . . ..

Good luck. :)

Re: please help

JB all the posts had the description of what I needed. I was desperate and the "please help" title was the only one that even got a response. I tried the other route.
