Please identify this part

So my new used boat (87 Yamaha Pro 50G outboard) was acting funny on first trip. It has that precision blend mix system that holds oil and gas in separate tanks. Well the plastic piece was broken that opens oil pump up with carb. It had safeties that slowed motor speed and rpms that worked but i didn't recognize them. Hopefully i didn't kill the motor. It never seized or left me stranded. The picture is of a part that i found under the motor in outboard cowling compartment while working on the other problem.

That parts goes into the rubber spacer on the oil take to keep one from tightening the rubber too tight. As for the linkage on the oil pump, it it broke then it goes into full oiling so there would have been no damage. There is no safety on that engine other than an overheat alarm and low oil alarm.

Wow, you really know your parts. It was missing. I put it back in its home. It looks like someone may have taken it out to get to the fuel filter. As for the linkage issue, I found the part online for nine bucks. I'm glad you don't think it hurt anything. I thought i read in the manual that it holds the engine below 2000 rpms, but i could be mistaken. As long as the oil pump was in full oiling I'm happy. It would explain why my spark plugs were covered in oil. Thanks for your know how. It really was driving me nuts.
