Hello
We intend to use this boat for a year or 2 and not spend much doe or time restoring it.
Is there a quick and easy trick to repairing this stringer. Also is a stringer very important to the integrity of the hull or more to keep it separate from the floor.
http://www.oppenauer.com/CAPPACHINO.html

roboat,

Looks like the keel is completely rotted out/ From what I can see in the pictures you need to replace this, very important part of the boat.

Double check the stringers and see how solid they are. You may need to pull up the whole deck, you could probably cut it out cleanly and re-install it.

Peace.

Ed.

Yes, as Ed says. The rotted keel is very bad; the stringer system is like the "bones" of the boat, tantamount to the integrity of the hull. Fix it, you will end up with a strong boat that will last for many years to come.

Re: PLEASE LOOK AT MY ROTTED STRINGER

Thank you guys. I am a perfectionist by nature and would normally fix it 100% as i have with my others. This boat is just going to be a clunker to boot around the 15 min away lakes and I only want to keep it for a while. since the first 4 feet of the stringer are like new and the last 6 is just rotted half way down I thought there might be an easier fix. also I intend to put a new sheet of plywood over the old remaining plywood. That and a somehow filled in stringer would create some strength. Also the hull is solid.

You could remove all of the rot, and scab in some new wood. Glass everything together well though.
