Re: plug gap?

Thanks for answering my post again Jim.
I have been running this motor for two years with Champion plugs # L77JC4 I dont know if this is the plugs that are recommended for it? But it starts first pull and runs great all day. I did notice the top cylinder plug was oily(not bad). and the bottom cylinder plug was a perfect tan color and clean. Should I worry about this?

Thanks,
Suzuki40

Re: plug gap?

Didn't hurt nothin' Suzuki. Actually, you can run with either the QL77JC4 or the QL86C. The "86" is a little hotter. Both are resistor type plugs.

Re: plug gap?

QL86C is ALOT hotter than the QL77JC4, which has been replaced by the QL82C (hotter than the QL77JC4).

Re: plug gap?

Thanks for all the quick and informative info fellas. One last one before I close this out.
When I removed the plugs for the first time in a couple of years,The bottom cylinder was clean and a dry with a slight tan color to it. The upper plug was removed, It was wet and oily? not real bad but alot differant than the other?
Anything to worry about or check out?

Last post on this subject I promise
Thanks,
Suziki40

Re: plug gap?

Both should be "slightly oily", and dark to medium tan in color.....It may be in need of a good carb job.
